PROJECT FEATURE: THE W NAIL BAR

From design, to sourcing our materials, and building each piece, everything we do at Crow Works is local. We are Ohio born and raised and love the opportunity to work with other local businesses, which is why we were grateful to be part of the DSW x The W Nail Bar partnership.

Columbus-based DSW has become a household name for designer, budget-friendly shoes for years, but like most retailers, they were seeing a decline in their in-store business. In a creative and fun new take on collaboration, DSW decided to partner with local salon, The W Nail Bar, and bring the nail salon inside DSW stores. Created and run by two sisters with a vision for a clean, beautiful, and eco-friendly nail salon, The W Nail Bar has become a staple in Columbus. There are now two DSW x The W Nail Bar locations in Columbus, and inside you’ll find Crow Works custom pieces throughout. "It is just a really cool concept for these two sisters, who at the time had only Short North and German Village locations," our lead Account Manager Taylor Sullivan said. "For them to partner with a local but billion-dollar company, it's huge."

When long-term client and designer Monique Keegan began working on this project, she reached out to Crow Works to explore how we could work together to outfit the spaces. Both DSW and The W Nail Bar were part of the conversation in designing the first location and we were excited to join this team of Columbus businesses. They had a clear vision for their space; modern, fresh, inviting, and beautiful.

As you enter each location you'll find a slightly different assortment of furniture pieces. In both spaces our custom-built cash wrap greets you, outfitted in our American White Oak paneling, responsibly sourced from the Appalachian region. Customers select from an array of polishes including handmade, vegan, W Nail Bar polish, off of our custom shelves, displayed above our beautiful Waterfall table. Nail artists work their manicure magic on top of our custom concrete table tops, and in the Easton location customers relax in our custom upholstered pedicure benches. At the Polaris location you’ll find our American White Oak paneling used again, this time to create a beautiful wood-wrapped light fixture. All of the American White Oak pieces were finished in Lightly Toasted to highlight the rich character of each piece of oak. Concrete table tops and Sea Salt finished metal bases were used to capture the modern spin they were taking with the space.

The finished product is a charming, light, and comfortable nail salon nestled inside a shoe store. The success of this partnership was immediate, and the duo has already announced they are expanding, this time outside of Ohio. They have plans to build out the concept in both Washington D.C. and Austin, Texas. We are thankful to be part of this project and excited to watch the business grow!
